Sporting London

Here at Marlyn Lodge we are very proud to be located in the centre of London, one of the most amazing capital cities in the world. This bustling city has already seen 31 major events this year including, but certainly not limited to, Chinese New Year Celebrations, London Technology Week, Virgin Money London Marathon, Pride in London and the World Para-Athletics Championships.

Uniting people through sport and friendly competition, London is the first city to host both the IAAF World Championships and 2017 World Para-Athletics Championships. The capital has reserved high-profile sporting events all the way through to 2020 so you can watch the world's best athletes compete in your favourite sporting events. If you're interested in athletics then you are probably well aware of the IAAF World Championships taking place right now in London up until the 13th of August.

News so far include US sprinter Tori Bowie, last year's Olympic silver medalist, take gold in the Women's 100m final, beating Marie-Josée Ta Lou by just 0.01 of a second. Ruswahl Samaai, who endured a long struggle growing up in the Western Cape of South Africa, proudly took home the bronze medal for the Long Jump. For the first time in history the Shot Put competition had seven of the men hurl the implement beyond 21 metres.  And, the fastest man in the world Usian Bolt sadly came bronze in the 100m final due to an unfortunate slow start. Winners and "losers" alike, all of the competitors are an inspiration to everyone and make up some of the greatest athletes across the globe.
